Forest Park Beginner Trails for Older Adults

Explore gentle walking routes at Rossmore Park and beyond

Getting Started on Your First Walk

A simple approach to enjoying these trails safely and comfortably

1

Choose Your Route

Both Rossmore Park trails are flat and well-maintained. The Lake Loop is about 1.5 miles. Deer Walk is slightly shorter at just over a mile. Neither has steep sections.

2

Prepare for the Conditions

Bring water and wear comfortable shoes with good grip. The trails can be muddy after rain, so check weather beforehand. Spring and autumn are particularly pleasant for walking here.

3

Walk at Your Own Pace

There's no rush. Most people take 45 minutes to an hour to complete either route comfortably. Benches are placed along both trails if you need a rest.
