Walking Through the Heart of Nature

theheartatschool Ltd guides older adults on accessible forest park trails across Monaghan's most scenic routes

We're committed to making forest walking enjoyable and safe for adults who want to stay active outdoors. Our beginner-friendly trails in Rossmore Park and around the lake loop combine natural beauty with thoughtful route planning. We've spent years learning what works — proper pacing, good rest stops, and routes that won't leave anyone exhausted.

Our Journey

How theheartatschool Ltd Found Its Path

We started because we noticed something: older adults wanted to walk more, but most trail programs weren't designed with their needs in mind. So we created something different.

2016 — The Beginning

Noticing a Gap

Our founder spent weekends walking Rossmore Park and noticed plenty of older adults on the trails. But they weren't organized, didn't know the best routes, and often struggled with pacing. That observation became our starting point.

2017 — First Routes

Testing the Lake Loop

We mapped out what became our signature route — the lake loop. We walked it dozens of times, measured distances, identified rest spots, and tested it with a small group of walkers aged 60-75. It worked. People came back. They brought friends.

2018 — Expanding Carefully

Adding the Deer Walk

Success with the lake loop meant we could develop more routes. The Deer Walk became our second permanent trail — slightly shorter, more wildlife viewing opportunities. We weren't trying to be the biggest. We wanted to be the best for our walkers.

2019 — Today

Established and Growing

theheartatschool Ltd now guides regular groups. We've trained our team, refined our routes, and built relationships with people who genuinely look forward to their walks. That's what matters to us — not growth for its own sake, but sustainable, meaningful service.

Our Approach

Built on Real Experience

Every decision we make about our trails and programs comes from listening to walkers and learning what actually works in practice.

Route Intelligence

We don't just mark trails. We understand terrain difficulty, elevation gain, surface conditions, and shade coverage. Each route description tells you exactly what to expect before you step onto the path.

Realistic Timing

We calculate walk times based on actual walker pace, not race-walker speed. Rest breaks are built into every route. No one's rushing anyone on theheartatschool Ltd trails.

Safety First

Uneven sections get flagged. Exposed areas are noted. We share what to bring, what to wear, and what to watch for. You'll have information before you go — no surprises out there.

Community Focus

Walking alone's fine, but it's better together. We facilitate groups because walkers benefit from company, shared experience, and mutual encouragement. That's where the real value happens.

Environmental Respect

Rossmore Park's ecosystems matter. We teach responsible trail use — stay on paths, respect wildlife, leave no trace. Walking here is a privilege that comes with responsibility.

Continuous Learning

We don't have all the answers. We listen to feedback, adjust routes seasonally, and improve based on what walkers tell us works and what doesn't.

What We Stand For

Our Commitment to You

Honest Route Information

We don't oversell our trails. If a route's challenging, we'll tell you. If it's easy, we'll be clear about that too. You deserve to know what you're getting into before you commit to a walk.

Accessible Information

Route details, distance, elevation, facilities — everything's available in clear language. No jargon, no assumptions about what you already know. We explain things as if we're talking to a friend.

Respect for Individual Pace

Everyone walks differently. Our groups aren't about keeping up or falling behind — they're about walking together at a pace that works. That's how you actually enjoy the experience.

Seasonal Updates

Trails change with the seasons. Muddy sections appear. Trees fall. We monitor conditions regularly and update our information so you're never surprised by unexpected obstacles or hazards.
